NLEA on Agenda at BoC meeting

The Emmet County Board of Commissioners will be meeting tonight. The agenda is pictured.

It's mostly a pro forma meeting, but there will be a presentation from the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance (NLEA).

NLEA, a public-private non-profit, has a bent toward corporate welfare. Go here and here.

And they partner with the MEDC, the entity that brought Big Rapids the Gotion, Inc. drama.

It's the whole 'winners and losers' model and 'interfere in the free market' paradigm.

Can't say we're a fan of such problematic schemes. Are you?

But we hope you attend the meeting or listen to the audio recording. And speaking of communications, a Zoom option for the twice-monthly commissioner meetings is long overdue.
