All these springtime millage proposals - for five northern Michigan counties (which are not wealthy) - are for our underperforming, underwhelming public schools and ALL will likely pass.
Which is why, more than ever, we need Ax MI Tax, the ballot initiative to eliminate unfair, confiscatory property taxes in Michigan: "Millages are meant to benefit the community, but when they push residents into foreclosure, who are they really helping?"
In the meantime, please vote NO on 'feel-good' school millages whose proponents could care less about elderly folks on fixed incomes and young people who can't afford high-tax homes.
It is time for a peaceful revolution over public schools, in my opinion. Not one more penny of taxpayer money until schools return to teaching our children how to read and write.
