The local establishment print media, the Petoskey News-Review, has done a terrible job covering Rep. Neil Friske's (MI-107) tenure in Lansing.
The paper did not even run his recent press release which included information about the bizarre, unsustainable, and expensive items that are included in the 2024 state budget. For instance, a salary of $218,000 for a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion coordinator for the Dept. of Transportation; $5.1 million for the MI State Capitol Commission to institute a weapons ban; and $2.5 million to pay pre-postage for mail-in ballots.
The list goes on and on and on.
Fortunately, the Weekly Choice, a free weekly newspaper that cover 40 towns in northern Michigan including Petoskey, did publish it (pictured) - in its entirety. You can read it here.
In the same July 6 edition, the WC also published press releases from Reps. Cam Cavitt and Ken Borton.
Way to go, Publisher Baragrey! You can get a copy a Meijer or D&W Fresh Market and various convenience stores.
Thanks for letting us know! I stopped reading the Petoskey News Review years ago. I get all my local news from Emmetrg.com :)
The Petoskey News-Review is probably not covering Representative Friske (R), not because of his political views, but because the paper no longer has enough money to buy paper and ink. If you are still a subscriber to this failed business, seek mental help immediately.
