This past Tuesday, the Board of Health for the Health Dept. of Northwest Michigan, which includes Emmet, Otsego, Antrim, and Charlevoix counties, held their monthly meeting in Charlevoix County. On the agenda was the Upholding Medical Freedom resolution that was proposed by Commissioner Rich Ginop, the chair of the Emmet County Board of Commissioners.
There was, roughly, one hour and forty minutes of public comment about the resolution. (That portion of the meeting starts around the 3:30 mark.) Emmet County residents were well represented. While the resolution failed (4-4 vote), ERG thinks it made for a worthwhile exercise, and we greatly appreciate Chair Ginop's efforts to launch this important conversation about government overreach.
The portion where the health board counsel, Matt Cross, offers his opinion, begins at the 2:59 mark. The vote by the commissioners on the resolution begins at the 3:06 mark.
And here's an interview with Commissioner Ginop with Nick Rhudy, local talk show host. Rich explains who voted yea v. nay and what the future of the resolution is going forward.
Thanks for sharing!
It would be helpful if you also reported on the vote of each board member.
