Friendly reminder: The Emmet County Board of Commissioners will convene a special meeting at 6:30 p.m., 9/29, in the Petoskey Middle School Auditorium to discuss transit. (AGAIN!)
There is talk about establishing a Transit Authority, but it is unknown if a vote will be taken, tonight, on moving toward establishing such an authority or putting the kibosh to such a lame idea.
By way of reminder, the Commissioners voted to end EMGO due to "empty buses," and due to the exorbitant cost that was involved in financing a public transit system that was overwhelmingly used by City of Petoskey residents. It was not a county-wide-friendly paradigm, which is one reason that 9 Townships have submitted letters/public comment of opposition to the Transit Authority. Also 65 letters/public comment have been submitted in opposition to a TA in contrast to 30 letters/public comment in favor.
See the correspondence here.
Despite that solid bloc of communication from the fiscally-responsible taxpayers, the mainstream media endlessly pushes a pro-transit and pro-transit authority narrative.
See this column and this story.
Take a stand against media bias and a waste of public monies, please attend the special meeting. Politely speak out, or send an email to your commissioner before 6:30 tonight.
Meanwhile, what’s with the Twitter censorship by Ms. Lyman? What’s with Neil Friske — who whines about his loss of free speech rights on his campaign page — banning people from his campaign FB page? Same goes for John (Forgot to vote in his hometown’s school millage election) Damoose?
Not sure why you’re ripping the “mainstream media“ here? For reporting in advance on the meeting? For literally PUBLISHING (providing the .pdf link that YOU (ERG) use, along with Will Perkins story) to NINTY (90) pages of written statements for and against)? WTH? And why is Martha Lancaster’s (OPINION) column “media bias?” Did you submit a column? A letter to the editor? (WHO, exactly, is the “Author” here? The name behind the “we?”
