The Petoskey District Library board met last night, and, as hoped, concerned taxpayers turned out for the meeting. There were nearly 25 people in the audience. Good turnout for a board meeting which typically attracts little interest.
During the public comment portion several folks spoke up. The comments ranged from dismay over "staff pick" books (like the anti-police The Hate U Give) to tacky transgender material being displayed in the youth section to the aggressive partnering of the library with the LGBTQ+ Pride March in Petoskey. Liberal advocates for the library pushed back against the "conservative" comments.
ERG hopes to post videos from the meeting next week. Bottom line: It was a beautiful exercise in the First Amendment, activism, and holding government accountable for their actions.
I am so Thrilled to hear this! Thank you so much for posting!
