The Livingston County Board of Commissioners sent a copy of the letter pictured to ALL MI Boards of Commissioners.
The letter, written by Chair David J. Domas, pushes back against an Area Agency on Aging CEO's goal to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), calling it "short-sighted."
It's a thoughtful, pointed missive - particularly the part that explains that DEI violates "the Federal Civil Rights Act's requirement of equal opportunity."
Chair Domas also notes in the memo (to MI BoC's): "The concept of value or merit is never addressed in DEI."
Certainly true!
DEI (and Critical Race Theory) are ongoing issues that need to be monitored. ERG appreciates these vigilant 'downstaters' for being pro-active and pro-equality and hope that Emmet County commissioners take this letter under advisement.
