Conservative Muslim and Christian moms and dads unite over a common cause - protecting the innocence of their children.
Last evening a huge group of parents, a majority of them fathers (pictured), attended the Dearborn Public School's Board of Education meeting. The reason? To speak out against DPS library books they found offensive and sexually explicit - such as, "This Book is Gay," and "All Boys Aren't Blue" and "Push" by Sapphire.
The fire marshal abruptly ended the animated, yet peaceful, meeting due to overcrowding.
Protestors brought signs which ranged from the blunt ("Keep Your Dirty Books in the Closet") to the nostalgic ("Whatever happened to the Good Old Days"). There were also loud chants of "Vote them out," as school board members exited the room.
The meeting will reconvene this Thursday at a larger venue. Stay tuned!
