Tonite the Emmet County Board of Commissioners will vote to approve an employment contract for David Boyer, the incoming County Administrator. If approved (and it will be), Mr. Boyer's tenure for the County will begin next month, specifically May 14th. It's a three-year contract, btw. He is replacing Mike Reaves, the current administrator. Mr. Reaves will stay on as a consultant for the County for several months before retiring.
We wish Mr. Boyer well in his forthcoming role, and, by all accounts, he is a hard-working, pleasant person. But we can't help but wonder about his past record as Farmington Hills City manager where he boasted about the taxpayer monies spent on assorted parks and recreation projects like " ... Riley Skate Park, the splash pad and amphitheater at Heritage Park, the baseball fields at Founders Sports Park and the Farmington Hills Golf Club." Phew! That amounts to tens of millions of dollars. Let's hope he is more of a guardian of our coffers ... or ERG will be.
