We link to an article in the Petoskey News-Review about the five candidates running for Petoskey School Board, as ERG leadership has been asked by voters to offer their opinion as to which of the three candidates to vote for.
Based on the article, which featured convoluted answers to some so-so questions, we note that only one candidate (Melanie Meengs) briefly mentioned academics in a meaningful way.
Other than that no candidate emerged as a having a clear platform for "responsible government" and/or for conservative values. Unlike Tom Varner who is running for the Harbor Springs school board.
Bottom line: Not much to distinguish between the five Petoskey candidates.
Blah, Blah, Blah is right: When did parents ever lose control of public schools? When did parents and other citizen taxpayers face a lack of transparency? I didn’t know people — and parents with kids in PUBLIC SCHOOLS — had been banned from running for office, forbidden from meeting with teachers, administrators and school board officials and attending school board meetings? They’ve been told they couldn’t view lesson plans, textbooks and “curriculum?“ Where?
